What you should know

Under §§ 13 and 17 EnEfG, operators of data centres with ≥ 300 kW IT capacity must annually submit a waste-heat assessment to the BAFA Waste-Heat Platform (BfEE) and the Data Centre Register. Deadline: March 31. Ardor delivers the mandated PDF in exactly the expected format.
Yes. The PDF contains all 10 mandatory sections in BAFA-compliant structure — from methodology to a signature-ready operator declaration. The foundation is our Heat Output Calculation Model v1.0, calibrated against Bitkom, AGFW and Uptime Institute reference values.
Because the work is repetitive and billed hourly. The inputs (IT load, cooling type, PUE, location) are standardised, and the waste-heat calculation follows directly from thermodynamics. We automated the calculation, benchmarking, and PDF assembly.
From data submission to PDF: under 24 hours, typically 15 minutes of computation plus a methodology review. Every generated report lives in your dashboard and is re-issued free when regulations change.
IT load (kW), cooling type (air / water / adiabatic / immersion), PUE, postcode, and annual operating hours. Optional: facility schematic for the proximity analysis. Many fields auto-populate from the public Data Centre Register.
EnEfG §§ 11 – 17 (German federal law), BAFA guidelines (BfEE), and cross-references to the Data Centre Register. When relevant regulations change, affected reports are re-issued free within the compliance year.
All facility data is processed and stored in the EU (Frankfurt region). Site data is never shared with third parties. Aggregated, anonymised benchmarks may be published — opt-out is available in the dashboard.
Every compliance report adds a verified heat profile to the Ardor database. In 2027 we open that database as a marketplace: data centres list heat volumes and temperatures, offtakers (district heating, industry, agriculture) search by proximity. Compliance is the wedge; the marketplace is the destination.
Under § 15 EnEfG, fines of up to €100,000per site per year can be imposed. More importantly, utilisation quotas for new builds (≥ 10% in 2026, ≥ 15% in 2027, ≥ 20% in 2028) require certified waste-heat figures as a prerequisite.
Yes. The final page contains a prepared operator declaration. Any authorised representative of the operator can sign. A counter-signed engineering review by our team is optionally available for €400.
